That sounds like a good solution. Or at least a start of one. ( since what they really need is to find a way to get out of here. but a census would be a first step toward pooling resources and that, well. one step after the other. )
Theoretically speaking, and by that I mean speaking about what's actually happened, what would you recommend in a situation where you've been accidentally carried off by natives and are currently locked up in a mud hut with a door that's kept shut by a very large individual and windows that don't open?
There's been no immediate danger, but I'm attempting to be proactive considering I'll need to rendezvous with the rest of my three man team once they make it to town.
How hard is the ground and how thick the walls? It may be possible to tunnel out under the wall or break the wall, depending. Tunnelling would be more subtle.
Alternatively, how willing to talk is that very large individual?
( bruises were circumstantial and not indicative of deeper internal bleeding. he's sure of that much. )
Thick as my forearm if I had to guess based on the settings for the window. The dirt is hard packed in here, outside of one portion that seems like a sand hollow.
The Fek don't really appear to talk much. Even to each other. So far it's mostly looking over everything I've dragged out of the tent.
[ it's been enough time since the last of the evacuations planetside that everyone involved has probably had time to shower and sleep some. which means that carolina is rested and back to being restless, not wanting to take advantage of the quiet to keep to herself right now. ]
[ he's done what he could, and it doesn't feel nearly enough. an entire planet, gone like that. two species wiped out almost entirely — and he knows they could have done more, if allura had been allowed to take the castle of lions down to the planet. ]
I'm angry.
[ maybe that's why it takes a moment before he adds: ] How about you?
[ young man, there's no need to feel down. i said, young man, what is making that sound?
it's a loud guy on your wrist-watch device, he sounds like. he's. really. concerned. ]
Shiro? Shiro, come in! Can you read me?! It's Coran!
[ With this nebulous timeline, Coran probably already heard from Allura that Shiro's been around for a while, which would lead to assuming he's totally fine. But. Eh. Some things you really like to confirm on your own. ]
[ coran sounds concerned; when shiro replies, it's with relief in his tone. maybe even something akin to pleasure. look, he's just glad that allura and he aren't stuck here on their own anymore, though he would have preferred none of them being here at all. ]
Hi, Coran. I can read you just fine.
[ and he is!! fine!!! or as fine as one can be, having just witnessed a planet being destroyed. ] When did you get here?
[ this whole team... filled with youngsters who insist on being tough guys. Aand girls. The full spectrum.
On the bright side, he does sound like he isn't dying. The little things mean a lot. ]
Oh, not that long ago. I've just been talking with Allura, trying to make sense of things! She said you arrived not long after she did, so I wanted to check in!
[ there is no context to this. literally none at all. lance is bored and locked in his room and scrolling through what he thinks??? is the database??? who even knows.
the issue here is that a bored lance is a dangerous lance.
thus: the message. ]
hey princess i dont know which is prettier today, the water, the stars or your eyes. ;)
[ was it meant for allura??? another girl lance is trying to hit on???? the world may never know. ]
[ the answer comes ten minutes later, after shiro's first attempt at sending a reply had gone to someone else entirely instead. so the network isn't functioning reliably; he'd figured that much after lance's text. ]
Are you seriously trying to hit on someone right now?
[ he hasn't gotten any responses from the last few he's sent out, so lance figures they're just....not actually sending. he's about to completely toss out the idea when his wrist pings.
any kind of excitement is punched out of him at the connection between the message and who it came from.
okay so......texts aren't going where they're supposed to go. either that, or shiro is now spying on his text messages and that's both creepy and not like the guy, so lance kind of pushes that idea out of his head. but if they're going to wrong places, maybe he can just....play it off...... ]

I mentioned the census idea to him, and he said he'll see if he can make something that can keep track of the registered devices.
